Indicator kriging for damage position prediction by the use of electromechanical impedance-based structural health monitoring

Some nondestructive techniques of the Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) have improved their analysis in past decades. Among them, electromechanical impedance-based SHM technique (EMI-SHM) has been tested several fields and associated to different statistical methodologies. Considering nature spatial variation damage metric data along structures, herein is proposed use indicator kriging method for predicting existence a known located center an aluminum plate. Maps showing probability fall value ranges were capable outlining areas affected by predict its location. Comparisons between scenarios with spacing PZT patches showed reduction reliability model increasing such spacing. Also, structure under study, it demonstrates that not possible obtain results methodology distance sensors/actuators greater than 16.67 cm. However, show this approach can be viable alternative using metrics map regions
